Highlanders and The Doctor

- Lucky me!!!!! My grandma heard that I was planning on asking her to look for some books for me at HPB sometime. I planned on waiting, because I wanted to check the antique mall first, but Mom talked me into it.

I know, like THAT was hard to do.Photobucket

I narrowed my 7 page wish list down to 6 titles. Then Grandma calls from the store today, and said they had 4 books from my list!

Photobucket
I think I'll read either Highland Guardian or Return of the Highlander first. Today I read some excerpts online of both, and I'm having trouble deciding.

I need to get back to the book I've barely started. I've really been hankering to read a good Ghost/Highlander book, but I've been obsessed with working on one of my sites.

I just realized that over the past month I've bought 20 books! (And this isn't even counting EITB). Only 6 of those are used, too. Now THAT is a record. I'm gonna have to buy another pretty box to store them in. I'm tempted to buy a shelf at Borders, as they're selling 3 of the HUGE shelves for $100 and I only need one... I think. The trouble is I wouldn't know where to put it and I'd have to paint it black.

- I'm gonna try to forget about this weekend's Doctor Who episode. Last week's episode I liked - even though "Mels" in the beginning worried me b/c I was afraid she was to be a new character - but I hated the latest. I kept waiting... and waiting... and waiting for something exciting to happen. I had the entire episode figured out early on, too. The monsters were creepy, but it was nothing like the "Blink" episode from Tennant's run. I really thought it would have been similar.

At least Rory didn't die in this one, too.

And why would a BOY (okay, alien) have a dollhouse in the first place? And then there's foreshadowing of The Doctor's death at the end of every episode. They really need to stop that.

I was surprised to see the return of Amy's intro before the music and titles began. I figured they had chucked that for good since it wasn't there last week. A lot of people hate that intro, finding it unnecessary. It doesn't really bother me, but it does leave Rory out.

Rory's my favorite companion. He's a sweetheart.

- This is a flippin' miracle. It's almost 4:30 and it's 84 degrees!!!! Not over 100 for a change. For days it's been really windy, too.

- I think I'm either going to start a brand new personal blog on my other account, since this one looks horrible in Firefox, or just stop having one altogether. I never really talk about anything interesting or important. I just ramble about nothing.

By the way, it bothers me that my wallpapers don't all look the same on Firefox as they do here on IE. Either there's a 'seam' in the background or the top and bottom of the paper is cut off.

Well, I guess I'll look to see if there are any jobs at the schools for tomorrow yet. Whoopty-doo. Can you sense my excitement? Okay, so it's still the lesser of evils. I just wish I had an iphone. I get to school EARLY and am so bored on breaks. Having internet access would make the day so much brighter. I get restless having nothing to do except read or edit one of my books. The day just draaags on and on and on.

I have to find a job with health insurance - thanks obama, you rat b@stard, for taking our freedom of choice away - but am petrified. I'm not a fan of things changing. Already, I'm worried and feel such dread over the future. I can actually feel myself trying not to panic.

Update: Didn't realize it's Labor Day Weekend. No school tomorrow.

Talked to my niece for a bit on webcam via her brand spankin' new iphone which she's so excited about. It was nice seeing her. I missed seeing Luke though. His girlfriend Stephanie was there. Mom said Luke was carrying her around the house on his back. Lol! It's their anniversary today.

Books & One Sexy Pooch Lover

- Got more books from Borders, courtesy of Mom this time. Isn't that SWEET?! We were at lunch and she just slapped a $20 bill down on the table to nurse my bookstore obsession.

Photobucket

This week the romance novels were 70% off! Only 2 of the books were on my shortened list, but the others were still on my very looong and growing original list so it still turned out great. Only 1 of the 7 I picked up out of curiosity. I might just go ahead and buy the others in the series if they still have them when I go back.

At the very last minute was when I spotted "Goodnight Tweetheart." I've been looking for this book for ages!!!! Would you know this book was originally 15 smackaroo's, but I... I mean Mom (Lol!) paid only $4.50! Ooh! Also, two of these books were $2.10 a piece. Originally, they were $6.99. The others were normally $7.99, but they were on sale for only $2.40!

This was my first return trip to Borders where my favorite titles were actually missing. Since Borders is closing and the Barnes and Noble here is so lacking in the romance department, I guess I'll jot down a few titles and ask my grandma to stop by her Half Price bookstore for me. I've never lived close to one and she has a HPB right around the corner from her house. As it is, our used bookstores are major expensive. The antique mall sells them for a little over a dollar these days, but it's rare that they'll have the books on my list.

And now cue the Ahhh's, because Gerry has been out and about with little Lolita this week.

How adorable! Photobucket

And... drool-pant-pant-dreamy-siiiggh... I am so loving The Butler's hair in that last pic. I just want to finger comb it while we relax under a palm tree with only the sounds of the surf and his rolling Rrrrr's kissing my eardrums. If his beautiful hair and that delicious brogue ever leave me alone on that beach it'll only be to fetch me a Starbucks iced mocha frappuccino.

I haven't watched this in so long. I might have to remedy this tonight. It'll depress me, but it's well worth it I think.

Day-um! He's so sexy! "Paaast.... the point of no return." Shall I pass out like a pathetic, Gerry-starved fan girl now?

I LOVE this video someone made a few years ago. This is one of my favorite songs now. Mom's, too.

Or maybe I'll watch something funny tonight like THIS.

Of Books & Cadillacs

- Today we braved the 109 degree weather by heading over to Borders. Last week I was really disappointed in their sales since the romance novels weren't marked down by another 10% as they had been every week previous.

Today they were 60% off. I bought 5 books, and then forced myself to put 5 others back. I really wish I had bought the remaining 2 - or was it 3? - Melissa Mayhue books and one of the Kresley Cole books.

Stupid me was in such a hurry that I did the unthinkable by LEAVING MY BOOK LIST AT HOME! I guess this means I'm going to have to return to Borders later this week.

The 5 books I bought today cost $15.59! Normally, that price would have bought only 2 books. The most expensive books I bought were only $3.20 a piece, and I saved a total of.... drum roll, please.... $21.55!!!!!!

I still can't believe it. I would pinch myself to see if I'm truly awake, but that isn't necessary since Wendy Kitty is purring right beside me. With me typing on this keyboard with her so close, she's likely to release those dangerous claws on me at any moment. If I am indeed dreaming, Wendy will snap me out of it.

I really haven't been reading much these past few months, so I have no idea why I'm so excited over spending money on books. Reading just hasn't been very fun for me lately. I must be a glutton for punishment.

- Mom and Dad decided against buying a new car this time around, so they bought Grandma's Cadillac SRX! They brought it home today.

- I've been so obsessed over these sites that I haven't even watched the new Doctor Who season opener which aired tonight!

Help! TBR Pile is Growing

Current Mood: Photobucket

- Dropped by Borders the other day. The romances were 40% off, so I only bought two.

Photobucket
I really wish I had bought another Mayhue book, as they only had one copy and Walmart quit carrying it.... along with other favorites I was about to break down and buy.

Booooooo for Walmart!

I can't wait to go back to Borders. If these books end up 60 or 70% off and they have a pretty good selection, I'm in big trouble.

Which is code for FUN trouble!

- Determined to get back to siggy making. I never did learn the proper way to blend, etc. I think I'll be giving it a go.

I felt inspired while Mom and I were perusing a few sexy Fever trailers for the books today. Lol!

Poor Kiddos + Bachelorette Finale

Current Mood: Photobucket

Photobucket

- The kids started marching camp for band yesterday. This is Luke's 3rd year, but Autumn's 1st. Luke is SECTION LEADER this year, so he's really excited about that. I know Autumn was nervous. Mom texted my sister yesterday, asking how their first day of camp went but my sister didn't reply.

I hope they take extra precautions with those kids this summer. This drought is bad enough - (I heard on tv that Houston needs 20-25 inches of rain to get back to normal) - but today the temperature in Austin is supposed to be anywhere between 106 and 109. Who knows what the heat index is. I would wish them rain, but my nephew says that makes it feel worse because with the rain comes all the humidity.

The heat index here is 110, so I'll be hiding indoors. Still, it really could be worse. I'll take the dry heat or humidity any day.

- Watched The Bachelorette 7 finale last night. (Once again I would have forgotten about it if not for dvr). I wasn't surprised by the person she picked. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: She seems to be a bad judge of character.

I liked Ben a heck of a lot more than JP. Well, I don't even like JP. There's something very off putting about him. I do not see this pairing lasting.

Ben looked dejected and so hurt, even after seeing Ashley for the first time after she dumped him.

And how HORRIBLE was she for letting the man get down on one knee and propose when she knew she was dumping him?! That really ticked me off. That was just wrong on so many levels.

I thought Ben handled himself well. He had every right to be upset and angry. This woman led him down the garden path, and he was humiliated I'm sure. I give him props though because he didn't beg or grovel, and he didn't lose his temper or curse at her. He left wounded, but as he said... with dignity.

I think her dumping him was a blessing. I don't think he sees that yet himself. Silly, silly man.

I bet his sister feels really bad now, considering she's the one that signed him up for the show. And oh jeez, I felt so sorry for him when he mentioned the loooong flight home with several stops, and he had to go to his best friends WEDDING.... Ouch!

Well, I can't feel too sorry for him. No one forced him to join this circus of a show.

And it IS a circus. It isn't normal to be locking lips and making out with one guy when THE VERY NEXT DAY you're engaged to someone else. I'm sorry, but if you're snogging and flirting having a mud bath with one man one day, and the next you're professing undying love to another... err, I don't think their definition of love is the same as mine. How can they BELIEVE that?! Are they living in some parallel universe?

And then this girl doesn't even answer Ben's question on the after special. He asked her when she knew JP was the one, but she evaded his question.

I guess I don't blame her, but he has a point and he does deserve an honest answer same as she deserved to know about Bentley the douche bag. His question and her silence only proves how cruel of a show this is.

But again, no one threatened to pull their arms out of their sockets if they didn't sign up for the show.

Oh boy, do I get a bad vibe with this JP. I can't help it. He feels 'off' to me. I don't like him at all. He's too controlling and possessive, and he barely knows this girl.

And OF COURSE the passion/honeymoon phase is still there. They've all been on vacation for weeks now. Once they get back to reality, that honeymoon will be a memory.

I really hope Ben doesn't become the next Bachelor or join another one of these childish, unrealistic reality shows. I'll be disappointed if he does.

All I know is that I will never again watch another one of these shows. I'm not gonna be suckered a second time.

Okay, so if Mickey is the next Bachelor I might watch. Lol! He's great eye candy.

I don't know about his personality though. He seems pretty arrogant and know-it-all and holier than thou. I could be way off base there, but that's the vibe I've received. I did miss 2 or 3 of these episodes, so he might have been on a date with her that I missed. Maybe I'm mistaking confidence for arrogance? Either way, he's nice to look at.
