- Now I wish I had waited another day to go to the antique mall because I added a few books to my list last night.
I was going to go to Borders today, but my head has been hurting and it's really hot again outside. In the car this afternoon, during a quick trip to McDonalds, the temperature read 105. My brother says that in Austin tomorrow it's supposed to reach 107... or the heat index is 107. I can't remember which.
I'm glad I'm not in Florida right now. While working on our new Disney puzzle - Tinkerbell this time - I was listening to Mouse Radio on Mom's iphone. They mentioned that in Orlando it's going to reach 109 degrees tomorrow. Today it's 107 there. I would hate being at Disney when it's that hot. I've had my fill of summers there. It's just as hot there as it is here, but it's too dang hot to be roaming those overcrowded parks all day.
- When I went to McDonald's a little while ago, I decided to take Izzy with me. She was a perfect angel. She was so good we got her and Maddie and a little cheeseburger.
Well, the cats had some too.
I think Izzy was so calm because Maddie wasn't in the car with us. I think we need to start taking them places with us to get them used to riding in the car. I think we need to start separating them a little more when it comes to little car trips to nearby places. After each of them is comfortable, that's when we'll take them on little trips together again.
- I only bought two books yesterday at the antique mall. I don't know if they're any good though.
I want to read right now, but my headache would only get worse. I've had worse headaches before, but nothing seems to be helping this one. Not caffeine, not ibuprofren.
- Look at the new Doctor Who trailer for this season! I love what he says at the end. Cute!
I finished this book yesterday. It was a looong read, which I didn't expect for some reason. I don't know if the book really was longer than the previous ones or if that's because I read this one on a kindle.
A few things really surprised me:
Dani - Didn't see that one coming at all, but I wish we got some closure on the whole issue. It was an awesome surprise twist though. I mean really, really surprising. I loved it!
V'lane - Just like with Dani, I was blindsided by this. We spent so much time trying to figure out what Barrons was that V'lane ended up being the one surprising the hell out of us. Lol! GENIUS, KAREN! GENIUS! I loved that surprise.
Barrons - I wasn't surprised with the whole Beast thing, but we still don't really know what he is. Initially, I was a little disappointed by his ending (BBQ) and not having any real answers about him because he was the only reason I continued reading the series. It's all about JZB for me.
But then I got to thinking harder about it, so now I actually kinda prefer it this way. 'Mystery' and 'Barrons' are synonymous with each other. If we knew everything there is to know about him - which would be a heck of a lot seeing how ancient he is - he just wouldn't be... well, himself. He would no longer be Barrons.
I think I read on the forum before that KMM is going to continue these books with a new series, so maybe we'll have a few more answers then. I don't know how much a role, if any, Mac/Barrons would play in the books though. I'm really not sure I'd even read them if Barrons wasn't involved. He's the only reason I read the series in the first place.
But then again I probably will cave in and read them just because Karen is a mastermind at creating sexy and, most importantly, BELIEVABLE heroes. She and Diana Gabaldon are the only two authors I've ever read that possess that gift. I wish there were more authors like them out there. Us ladies are pretty fortunate to have these two storytellers sharing their gifts of the written word to the world.
And I gotta say it now. For me, Barrons is creeping up there with Grimm, Drustan and Dageus. I know Barrons can be a jack@ss, but come on.... he oozes such INTENSITY. So much sexual chemistry, class and charisma. Then there's the fact that he isn't perfect and isn't ashamed of his flaws. He doesn't try to hide them and he never strays from the truth. He might, as he says, 'omit' certain things but he never ever lies. I just love him.
And oh boy. With all this talk of the silvers (aka MIRRORS) and how his UNDERGROUND LAIR was so CLASSY and SPARTAN-like...... hello? I had GB in my head there a la Phantom of the Opera and 300. ;o)
And GB is an intense, mysterious guy with an old soul vibe same as JZB. He possesses vast amounts of that sexual charisma too. I think that actor's recent comment is proof enough; that Gerry is so packed with sexual appeal that science is proving he can reverse menopause. Lol! Cute.

Ooh! I also loved that we finally know why it is Barrons wanted the book so desperately. That's something else I never saw coming.
I think it's safe to say that KMM is pretty much a genius. She's the only author that could ever get me to read Urban Fantasy.
Yesterday I finished reading Dreamfever, and today I started Shadowfever.
I'm reading SF on Mom's Kindle. I've never read from an E-reader before, as I'm pretty much Anti-Ebook. Unless I'm traveling on a plane, I just don't see the draw. I prefer the real thing in my hands.
But Mom already had that book on her Kindle, so I figured I'd read it there instead of waiting for the paperback release August 30th. I'll just buy the paperback for my collection later.
Honestly, I'm not into this genre in the slightest - normally I hate it actually - but it's the CHARACTERS Karen creates that has me so hooked. I like V'lane all right, but it's Barrons I'm drawn to. I don't care for how the 'not a human' ordeal worked out so far, but again... that's just the genre I don't care for. The character - Barrons in human form - I love a lot.
When a person isn't a fan of a particular genre, yet they read that genre for hours on end, I think that proves that the author is one VIRTU-flippin'-OSO Storyteller!
By the way, I wish I knew how to use Voice. If I did, I'd voice my two dogs to stop barking at everything that moves or makes the slightest sound. They drove me batty today with their noise.
Guess I'll get back to reading. I'm on Ch. 25 now. I'm almost halfway there to being able to read the Shadowfever forums and Facebook pages! I always try to stay away from those, for fear of running into spoilers.
I forgot all about my guilty pleasure tv show again, but then I saw it on the dvr.
Obama interrupted about half an hour of the show, so I missed that as well as the ending because the dvd stopped recording at it's normal time.
Thanks again Mr. Pres for interrupting a show I wanted to see. This makes it twice now that you've interrupted the only show I ever dvr as I'm not much of a tv person. (I still haven't forgiven him for interrupting Mickey's Christmas Carol last holiday season. Now that was no guilty pleasure show. It's CLASSIC Disney, which equals genuine entertainment and art. Not to mention it was a freakin' Christmas SPECIAL that comes on only once a year).
Thank God for the fastforward button when Obama was on.

Ryan Returns, aka begs for scraps: I knew he was the one coming back because I read a spoiler. (Normally I am no friend to spoilers, but with this show I don't care. Like I said, it's a guilty pleasure). Ryan coming back was just ridiculous. Dude, she said no. She dumped you nicely, so lick your wounds and look for a chick that actually WANTS to be with you. Be a man and not a puppy dog begging for a second chance. Don't be so clingy and needy, because that's a definite turn off.
All that aside, still - once again - I did feel sorry for him. At first I thought this guy was just a phony, but now I don't think that's the case. I think he's being genuine. It's that plastic smile that makes everyone suspicious. (Ames had that, too, and I think his smile bugged me even more than Ryan's). This Ryan guy is just in love with being in love. I predict that he'll rush into marrying any girl now.
I really hope Ryan won't be the next Bachelor. Please, no. He's a nice guy, but... please no. Just... no.
Ben: Still like him, but I have to say that he being okay with 'doing the deed' with this girl when he knows full well that TWO OTHER GUYS are likely doing the same thing is a total turn off. Then there's the fact that all this is being aired on national television. (Well, YKWIM. The implication of what's about to happen as they're snogging on her bed with a camera guy filming them; Well, JP/Ashley anyway. At least Ben looked a little embarrassed). I guess I'm old fashioned, but I just find that very demeaning and it makes him look spineless. There's no way in hell I'd want a guy that was okay with me sleeping with two of his friends/roomies. I just find that very, very unattractive.
JP: Naturally, what I wrote above applies to JP as well. I'd also add that I just don't get a friendly, genuine vibe with this guy. He's too possessive. Why did he sign up for the show in the first place if he doesn't like the competition?
Nope, don't get a comfortable vibe with JP. Too controlling and possessive and I fear he's coddled a lot at home. I know this is really extreme, but I wouldn't be surprised if this guy turned out to be a psychopath or something. He is just too possessive, and he barely knows this girl. If she chooses Ben, he'd probably stalk her.
Bad, bad vibe.
Constantine: I had to watch what I missed on tv by watching it online, but I was impressed by him. I was impressed because he could have been a total douche bag by lying to Ashley about his feelings just to stay with her all night in the Fantasy Suite a la JP and Ben style. I like that he took things slower than the rest of the guys, and I like that he didn't give a rats arse about the deadline. He wasn't comfortable with forcing the relationship - as Ashley clearly wanted him to do - so he packed his bags and said Adios... or whatever it is they say in Fiji.
I knew he was leaving though, as I had read that spoiler as well.
I really don't care who she picks. I like Ben better than JP, but I really was disappointed about the whole 'Fantasy Suite' thing. I just think that on Ashley's part, it's slutty. I mean, multiple partners when neither of them you're sure of and possibly vice versa? Multiple partners on national television? And on the guy's part, I just find it spineless. Obviously this Ashley chick wouldn't agree, but I wouldn't want a man to be all A-okay with me playing footsies with some other man, let alone sharing the Fantasy Suite with him, the same time she was doing the same with him. Hell no. Check, please!
If any man was okay with me doing that I'd lose all respect for him, wouldn't see him as a real man, would suspect that if he's okay with ME behaving that way then HE would do the same thing knowing full well that if I disagreed with HIS behavior then I was the hypocrite, I would think he doesn't really respect me, I'd wonder where in the heck is his backbone as clearly my behavior proves I don't respect him... the list goes on and on. It's just pathetic in my opinion. I'd rather die an old maid than be with a man possessing so little morals or respect for ME or HIMSELF. That respect goes both ways.
Ya know, watching this season just proves to me why it is I'm not a fan of these types of shows. I regret ever getting hooked. It's like reading a bad book; you pick up the book and start reading, you're bored with the story but you can't just throw the book down. No matter how bad it is, you have to reach that finish line regardless. That's how I feel about this show.
Now, if Mickey Blue Eyes gets his own Bachelor show I'll be guilty of watching just for the eye candy.

I took all of the online training courses last night for the upcoming school year. Miraculously, I took all of them last night. This year the tests included:
I finished my last quiz at 5 am! (When I turned on the radio directly afterward, they were airing the very last space shuttle Atlantis landing. Pefect timing, huh?) I was so tired and in dire need of either a bed or iced coffee.
I still cannot believe there was a training course on PEST MANAGEMENT. I mean, really?! Really, pest management? What am I, an exterminator?
What a total waste of time that was. I'd like to pummel the individual that made it mandatory that I learn so much info about flippin' rodents, pesticides, IPM Coordinators and glue traps. It was just stupid and over half an hour of my life that I'll never have returned to me.
I wonder what wacky new training course, which has NOTHING to do with education, they'll think of next.

By the way, Dad got home around 11:30 last night. He must be exhausted.
- Mom came home earlier than I thought she'd be. She got here at 9 am, and those dogs were beside themselves with joy. It was so cute.
Izzy was so excited that when Mom went back to the truck to get her suitcase, I had to literally hold her back. Izzy whined the entire time, and these noises she was making was unlike anything I'd ever heard from her before. It didn't even sound like her.
Mom was only gone for 2 nights. I can't imagine how the dogs will be in December when she's gone for 7 nights. Goodness, were those two girls happy! Even Wendy sat beside her for a second and kissed her hand.
- My mother had a good time in Austin with my brother and SIL. Lance was happy she stayed for two nights, and even bought her a Disney book. (A Disney World book she bought for him for Christmas).
- Jealous of Gerry this week! And listen to that adorable laugher of his.
- In dire need of iced coffee but I've sworn to drink less of it. Must keep calm. Must keep calm. Must keep calm.
- I'll be here at home, alone, for the next couple days and already the dogs are acting as they always do when it's just us. All night they've been growling and barking in hysterics. Nothing at all shows up on the security cameras.
They do this every single time it's just us here at the house at night. I dread them acting like this in December when little Abby and Sadie Lady are here with us for those 7 days that everyone else is at Disney World. Izzy and Maddie will probably scare that poor dog and kitty into fits.
- I made a couple of cards for Mom and organized all our jewelry beads. I also made a little pair of earrings.
Tomorrow - well, technically today - I might post pictures of the jewelry that I've made so far.
