- Not feeling very well today, and Blogger has been a total pain in the you-know-what. For days now it wouldn't let me write a new entry, but thanks to reading a post on the Help forum I know two ways of kicking Blogger's constant maintenance errors. I still can't log in via the normal route, but through the Google homepage and Mozilla FINALLY I can.
Not that there's anything interesting to ramble about. Need proof? Just keep on reading.
- At the antique gallery the other day imagine my surprise when they had books there that were actually on my list. I mean they had THE books from MY LIST! Do you have any idea how monumental that trip was for me? While tossing book after book into that little arm basket I was actually wishing I would stop seeing familiar titles from my list on those shelves because the cost just kept increasing... but then I'd see Heaven all over again in the form of a book title and I heard myself praying they'd have more titles to add from the same author.
I wound up buying 10 books total; 8 which were on my list and 2 which I just picked up out of curiosity.
Alert... Alert: After MONTHS of reading no more than a few pages of random books which were total bores, I FINISHED A BOOK TODAY! This reading slump has lasted so very long, and I started to feel like I'd never get out of it.
The book which jump started my 'bookwormishness' back into existence was "You Had Me At Goodbye" by Jane Blackwood. It was the first book my greedy hands grabbed hold of. It wasn't on my list, and I'd never even heard of the author.
The first half of the book was okay. Nothing fantastic, but it held my interest. After that, I couldn't wait to finish it. This story would have been better if it had been 100 pages less. There just wasn't much going on except me waiting... and waiting... and waiting for these two knuckleheads to confess their feelings and stop assuming things. It was just the same thing over and over again; like watching a hamster running on a little wheel, getting nowhere for hours and hours. If this book was a hamster on that stupid wheel, I would have wished for it to have fallen off, just to break the endless monotony!
It's a romance novel. The reader knows there's going to be some happily-ever-aftering going on by the end, but halfway through it seriously felt like I was watching paint dry. Orange paint dry. (My least favorite color. I know that's a poor example, but it's all my pounding head can come up with for now).
- I had no idea, but a few months back Disney added an interactive queue to The Haunted Mansion. It's optional, and it is cute, but I prefer it the old way.
What's so sad to me is that from here on out the atmosphere of The Haunted Mansion isn't "haunting" at all. The way it used to be is the closer you get to the mansion, the far off sounds creep up on you from the distance: the organ playing, THE DOG HOWL, etc.
But now it's all kooky and playful, and leaves no doubt in a person's mind that this is going to be a silly ride. When my family and myself first rode The Haunted Mansion back in the 80's, we had no idea what to expect. Was it going to be funny or frightening? Now, whenever some newbie sees the mansion, there will be no hesitation whatsoever in riding it. Seeing all those kids in that interactive queue will be a huge spoiler. (I really don't enjoy spoilers).
Even though the interactive queue is optional, being bombarded by this new zany and silly atmosphere is not. That's what bugs me about the whole thing. For that reason alone, I do wish they'd change it back.
One thing I DO like is the updating of the hitchiking ghosts near the end of the ride. I think it's pretty cute.
- I really want to paint my bedroom. I am sick to death of the BLAH! tan walls. In the meantime, I just put a band-aid over it if-you-will. I gave Mom the white chair that was in my room, and I took her green one. The green chair is a lot bigger, which I don't like, but it really does match my room a lot better.
And since Mom redid her room recently, the white chair goes in there a lot better too. We also took the white computer desk out of the guest room and then put it in Mom's room for her laptop. It looks really nice.
Of course, now the guestroom is pretty bare.
- Kinda mad at myself for what I bought with my Michael's gift card. Now I only have $6.45 left.
We went out to the land this weekend to mow the grass. We were pretty shocked to see that it really wasn't that overgrown. We also realized why the calls stopped coming for the selling of the land. It was because those strong winds we've been having blew our 'For Sale' sign off it's post.
We take it as a sign to sit on the land for now. Lol!
Anyway, Grandma met us up there for a while and for the first time I learned how to use the riding lawn mower. I also used the weedeater, which I HATE since even today my arm is killing me. I mean it really hurts. I also got a little sunburnt out there, and bruised my hand.
And call me daft, but while mowing there was this large butterfly in front of me. It just would not move so I turned off the mower, walked up to the butterfly, and 'shoo'-ed it away. Lol! I just couldn't kill it just because it was in my way. And speaking of insects, there are A LOT of grasshoppers and crickets out there. A LOT. This time one of them basically punched me on my mouth. Lol! It was like the Andre Giant of crickets, as this thing was HUGE. If I'm lucky, being sucker punched by one of those critters will be good luck.
I wish I got some video of the cows and "Hugs" (the donkey next door) 'talking' to us. Everytime we moved the truck, the cows started moo-ing their heads off. It was really funny. Hugs ignored us for a change, but he did bray for me once while I was on the phone with Dad. He was so loud that even Dad heard him with the riding lawnmower screaming in the background.
Below are some video. The little fawn in the 2nd vid is one of the twins which was born beneath one of our trees. Our neighbor told us about it, and said they had to use wire cutters on our fence so the fawns could get in and out.
So it's almost midnight and I'm really caffeinated. I was really bad today in that I had 3 cappuccinos. THREE! And you know what? I'm not even gonna get on the exercise bike, even though I feel guilty.
Why bother with the bike when the world is ending this Saturday, right?
Joking. Lol! I'm just not gonna worry about those extra calories. (Even now, I'm munching on Doritos. I haven't had Doritos in a looooong time. I never eat chips anymore). Anywho, it's like that quote:
- Yesterday I narrowed my book list down to a few. I'm not sure which titles I'd like to buy first, as I'd also like to buy some craft supplies.
The latest Outlander book (EITB) will be released in a paperback version on May 24th, but I'm gonna try to wait for that one.
I just realized that I forgot to add the last Fever book by KMM to my list. I still haven't read the book before it, so I guess it's no big deal just yet.
I really need to read something that will make me laugh, so I'll probably place the Susan Elizabeth Phillips book to the top of my shortened list. I've never read her work before, and this particular book looks like the only one of hers I'd ever be interested in reading. The reviews that I read all mentioned how funny the story was.
- Last night's episode of Doctor Who, "The Doctor's Wife," was interesting. I didn't love it as much as the masses seemed to, but there were some great lines in there last night. I thought the last 20 minutes or so were the best.
- Forgot to mention that the other day I finally cut my hair! It used to be long, but now it's at my shoulders. I'm really glad I did this, as I'd been thinking about it for months now. I figured if I hate it, I'll just grow it back. My hair grows really fast anyway.

Be sure to click on the picture to see a larger pic of the hottest guy ever to drive on a road just a few states away from me; I think I read that this film he's working on now is in Florida. And am I the only one thinking he looks a little like Jamie Fraser here? All he needs is to ditch the car and modern clothes, mount up on a horse, put on a kilt and strap a sword to his back.
Yin and Yang is certainly true. As always, the universe balances out the good with a little bit of bad.

- Finished making my first necklace last night.
It really isn't how I wanted, as I couldn't find everything I needed and had to use cheapy materials which were NOT cheap at all.
I discovered pretty quickly that making your own jewelry costs A LOT of pretty pennies, even when some of the supplies are on sale. Trust me, it's cheaper just to buy them in a store.
- We finally received a little bit of rain the other night. It was glorious, but still not near enough. It didn't last long at all.
You should see the "creek" right now. Honest truth, it looks to be about 90% dry, if not a little more. This summer is gonna be harsh.
- Doctor Who tomorrow!!!!!!
And finally, I got my mother hooked on this show. Maybe now she'll watch a few more of the seasons with TEN. The storylines in a lot of those episodes were kinda ridiculous, but Tennant more than made up for that.
While I do like Matt Smith a lot, Tennant will always be my fave.
By the way... SPOILER AHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!... Mom and I both FREAKED OUT last week when we saw that little girl regenerating. I mean, what's that about?! Mom was so surprised that she actually called my brother to talk about it.

But if you're like me... as in you have no children and would rather stick a fork in your eye than be responsible for caring for another human being... then just have a great weekend filled with half priced frappuccino's.
