Guess who used their Barnes and Noble gift card? I can't believe that $50 only amounts to 5 ... almost 6... books, but thankfully I didn't have to spend one dime.
Hooray for gift cards! Photobucket

And isn't this a neat coincidence? Here I was browsing the romance section for any HIGHLANDER stories, and over the speakers the store is playing that Queen song that they used in the HIGHLANDER series intro. Perfect!

I also got to see the pets at the pet store. Why oh WHY do they have prairie dogs and hedgehogs for sale now? I need to win the lottery so that I can rescue them all. Having wild animals like that in a pet store is ridiculous and just wrong.

They didn't even have anything for the prairie dogs to burrow in! Oh, how that ticked me off! Very upsetting. They were just stuck inside an open air glass case with straw, food and water. Whenever a person wanted to pet them, they had nowhere to hide.

These questions are all courtesy of The Little Things We Do.

1. The best surprise ever would be waking up at WDW in Cinderella's Castle suite. I mean seriously... look at how lovely it is!

(The suite is shown at around the 2 min mark)

2. When my niece and nephew were little, before they moved to Austin, is my most favorite memory.

3. The hardest, but most worthwhile thing I've ever done was writing my latest (aka last) book, even though nothing came of it.

4. The best part of my day is right when I'm about to take my first sip of an iced mocha or hot cappuccino.

5. Something I like that most people don't is sad romantic movies and depressing music.

6. Something I am willing to fight for is close family.

7. Something you might not know about me is that I am incredibly freaked out by those pitch black hummingbird moths. Seriously, they scare the everlasting cr@p out of me.

1. These three words describe my significant other (or dog, cat, baby, grandchild, best friend): Umm... let's see. I guess I'll describe my niece, nephew and mother. My niece.... funny! My nephew.... sweet. My mother... giving.

2. When a new episode of 'Once Upon A Time' or 'Doctor Who' airs is a delight!

3. Oh, how I adore the horse drawn trolleys at The Magic Kingdom. I swear that the most peaceful, happiest sound to me are those Clydesdale's hoofs clomping down Main Street!

(The Clydesdale isn't really seen until the last few seconds of the video)

4. The world would be a happier place if one takes time to be friendly.

5. Inevitably, we are all forced to get off this crazy merry-go-round called Life.

6. My mother is someone who never ceased to encourage me.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to banishing this headache, tomorrow my plans include cleaning and doing some laundry, and Sunday I want to start reading again.

Dear Abby,
Please start eating more. I know you've never been a big eater, and I know without a doubt that you're happy living here with us, but for Heaven's sake PLEASE start eating your dog food on your own. Coaxing you to eat every night is starting to bug me.

Dear Wendy Kitty,
The other night I really thought you had traveled to that Rainbow Bridge. First, you come into my room to sleep - which is something you never do anymore - and after a while, I reach down to pet you and YOU WERE NOT BREATHING! I thought you were a goner for sure. Either you wanted to give me a heart attack, or you're preparing me for when you do pass. All I know is that you've lived for 17 long years and overnight you've turned into a little bag of bones. While I want you to stick around, I also don't want you to suffer. If you're ready to go, I wish you would, only peacefully in your sleep like I thought you did that night.

Dear Dentist,
Never again will I be bullied into having my teeth cleaned. Ever since, they've been so sensitive to cold and warm liquids.

Dear Star Wars Weekends,
You look like a blast, but I think people that attend your celebrations are a little off their noggin considering the crowd levels and wickedly hot weather. Photobucket

Dear Darth Vader,
I still can't help thinking you're sexy in these videos. Does this mean I'm turning to The Dark Side, or that I'm just a fan of black?

(Be sure to watch Vader's dance around the 3 minute mark)

(And the 4 minute mark here)

(The stormtroopers are so funny in this one. It's at around the 3 minute mark)

I am so glad Phillip Phillips won American Idol! He's adorable and his reaction to winning - which took a while to sink in - was so endearing. I loved how he walked off the stage and to his family. I also LOVE his Dad.

How can anyone NOT love that father of his? heart

I can't find a video of the winning results or of the SWEET homecoming and parade of his, but here's my favorite song that he performed. It's "Volcano" by Damien Rice. If you haven't heard him sing this, please do. It's really very beautifully done, and this isn't even the studio version.

By the way, I just saw that before Phillip came into the room to audition - he was the last one for that day - Steve Tyler turns to Jennifer Lopez and says, "I have a funny feeling about this."

Spooky! Photobucket Steve Tyler's got his Spidey-senses on.

What I loved about Phillip was that not once did he cave in to all the media hype on what to wear, etc. He wore gray and casual practically the entire season, sang with that treasured guitar of his most of the time, and you could tell that family and music are #1 in his life. Basically, he's a good old Southern boy from a good family. I also admire him for sticking out the season when he was ill. (Poor guy had to have surgery for kidney stones. Both my parents suffer from those, and it's more painful than childbirth. Oh my gosh... I just now saw that Phillip had EIGHT surgeries during the Idol season. He kept it a secret from the media. His father just now released the info. My gosh, how horrible. How did he do it?!)

Just a few vids of the doggies and Wendy Kitty outside. As always, nothing grandstanding but they're cute to look at.

(That 2nd video would have been cute, but as you can see the dang batteries died)

And here are those brave cardinals I was talking about. Lucky for them, either Mom or I had Abby in our lap at the time. She doesn't run after them to chase them off either. She just wants to make friends. I've learned that Abby is an avid birdwatcher:

Well I'm exhausted, so I'm going to join the girls here.

- This is truly A-m-a-z-i-n-g! I'm gonna be bossy here and just DEMAND that anyone reading this please watch this young man's performance. It will brighten your day. Photobucket

And to think he never would have auditioned if not for his friend. I only hope that their friendship remains stable, as it's clear that Jonathan is definitely going places.

I cannot even begin to imagine being born with such a gift, and then discovering it while still so very young. He is one very lucky individual.

- Pictures... just 'cuz. I still suck at textures, but I'm used to disappointing myself in the creativity department. I'm still sticking to it though.

- I found the most beautiful photos of the Texas bluebonnets last night. They were taken near New Braunsfels. Click on THIS blog to view them.

Seeing those photos really got me excited about possibly seeing the bluebonnets this weekend. I can't wait to take pictures of them! I'll just have to remember to pack a lot of extra batteries since they're always dying on me.

In case you missed it, I have older pics of the bluebonnets posted HERE. Last year we had the drought, so we didn't get to see the beauty's. These photos were probably taken 2 and 3 years ago, by both Mom and myself.

- New, extra footage of the space shuttle video that I posted earlier. It's almost 40 minutes long and shows several different camera angles. I think it was from 5 angles?

I love it around the 9:40 and 22:08 min mark, when the solid rocket boosters are separated. It's a beautiful sight. The part near the end though, around the 31 min mark, with the camera underwater... couldn't watch. It made me feel claustrophobic.

As amazing as this is, the first video HERE is still my favorite. It's edited beautifully, and Skywalker Sound did a fantastic job cleaning up the audio. (Nothing new was added, by the way. Those sounds you're hearing are the real deal).

And I HIGHLY recommend watching both videos in full screen mode.

- Good News!

Remember Abby's "Scary Adventure?" Well, my brother said that Abby always shakes like that the first half hour of a car trip. She's just excited, and we shouldn't worry. He says if she's scared, she'll try to jump out of our arms... which she didn't try even once, so I guess all is well with our little girl.
