I'm feeling a lot better today! As colds go, this one was really minor and short-lived.
I don't know how I did it, but yesterday I mustered the strength to take down the Christmas tree ornaments. All that's left are 12 of the animated one's. I decided to leave them there for now because I still want the lights on the tree to be lit and I can't find the replacement bulbs.
Off and on, the girls kept me company for all those monotonous hours. (As did "John Smith," which I'll mention in my paranormal blog).
Finally, I finished the job by 2 am!
This morning I celebrated by making myself a cappuccino topped with whipped cream, Hershey's syrup, cinnamon and peppermint for a change. Yum!
Today I took down the fireplace garland.
Wendy wore herself out just watching.
In Other Boring News:
Some power & lighting guy knocked on our door at 7am. The power went off, but switched back on instantly. I could hear him - and some really LOUD lady with him - working on it next to the house. Hopefully it won't be turning off anymore like it's been doing for the last say.... oh, the entire 4+ years that we've lived here.
Not feeling well - caught my niece's cold or something on Christmas Eve - so I'll babble quickly and just post a few pics and vids.
- Mom received her kindle! It arrived around 15 minutes after my brother got here from Austin.
- The electricity went out last night, AGAIN. (At first it kept turning off and on every single second; 12 times at least, then it finally went out completely for that one hour). It was out from around 10:30 - 11:30.
FYI: I find it a little funny that a new (and very kind) neighbor dropped by with her kids to give Mom a little Christmas gift. Appropriately enough, it was a CANDLE which was lit with all the others when the power went out later that evening. Lol!
- A cool front blew in Christmas Eve night! It was very windy and even tonight it's actually cold! It's really lovely, as for the past week it's been in the 80's and very, very, VERY humid.
Did I mention it was very, very, VERY humid?
- I find it a little strange that when my brother and SIL were here Thanskgiving night, we had a lot of STRONG winds. (We're talking major gusts here). Then when they came back on Christmas Eve, it was the exactly same kind of strange weather happening all over again.
It's like they're Mary Poppins and the wind comes into town when they do. ;o)
(I think the above sentence proves how much I miss Disney. My only cure is to go back).
- I think Mom had a pretty good Christmas, but it could have been better seeing as Dad hasn't been home once since he left for Iowa. Since then there's been Thanksgiving, then their anniversary a few days ago, and now Christmas and New Years.
- Here are some pics and vids of the girls this trip. I wish I got some good pics of Izzy and Tiger Lily, but I didn't. Tiger Lily was sleeping, and Izzy would never sit still long enough to be anything but a blur on the camera.
I'm sure you can guess when the first picture was taken, no?
Maddie was a very happy girl this Christmas. She LOVES company (all the girls do), and my brother of course.
Here's one of my gifts. (Next to The Beast, Nana has always been my favorite Disney character. She reminds me so much of our sweet Bambi that passed away many years ago).
Oddly enough, Wendy and Tiger Lily both weren't very sociable during the unwrapping of gifts this year. I was lucky to get this quick pic of Wendy.
I am so excited about one of Mom's Christmas gifts!
My brother called this morning, and said they had decided to take one of Mom's gifts back. They had been undecided about it, and so Dad decided that they should just buy her a Kindle together.
I hope the Kindle arrives on schedule! I'm really afraid of that because it's supposed to be delivered tomorrow. They paid for one-day shipping on Amazon, which petrifys me considering tomorrow is Christmas Eve. It'll be horrible if it doesn't arrive in time.
I guess they all have more faith in the postal service than I do. Around here, the mail is always being delivered to the wrong house. Still, it's coming Federal Express so that should help.
Oh, wait. Maybe not. Mom ordered a gift for my brother from Amazon/Fed Ex and it took FIFTEEN DAYS for it to get here.... and that wasn't on Christmas Eve.
I predict it'll be here after the new year, if at all. If it arrives tomorrow, I'll become a believer in Christmas miracles.
(Is it just me, or in the pic above doesn't it look like Santa is a slave driver and those poor reindeer are about to meet their doom? It's kinda disturbing).
Guess I'll get back to the cleaning now.
This time I'm not killing myself either. I refuse to bathe the animals again so soon, and the house cleaning will be nothing fantastic.
Mom finished her very first glitter house! We started placing vellum behind the windows, but were afraid we'd destroy the house in doing so. (Because the roof was already glued down, and even a hurricane wasn't going to lift that thing).
We're also undecided about the door. We don't know if we're going to make one or not.
