Bitter Disappointment

No snow. It just doesn't want to come near Spring, Tx. That ever-hopeful 70% chance of snow at night and 70% chance in the morning turned out to be a dud prediction.

I have no snow pictures and video to share (obviously), so here are some of the birds. (Whoopti-doo, right? Pictures of cute birds which I can take any time of the year).

Ice at 3pm / Ice again

As you can see, there's not even that much ice. I could have crushed some ice cubes from the freezer and tossed it in the yard to achieve the same effect. :/

(Sorry for the lousy color. Not wanting to scare them off, I took this video through a gap I made in the window blinds upstairs).

Austin got some snow. At my sister's house, they received 0.6 inches. My brother and SIL received 0.7 inches.

Last I heard, the kids were still playing in it with all their friends at the park. They even made a tiny snowman on Luke's car. Lol!

I'm really glad for them. They all get off school today AND get to enjoy some of the white stuff AND there's the weekend to follow. They're a busy, busy family so I'm happy they're having a fun snow day.

Speaking for myself though, I'd be a liar if I said I wasn't envious of them.

Really, really envious.

I know they didn't receive that much snow, but it's better than the alternative that we got... which is ZIPPO!!!!

It's all my fault. It's that darn positive thinking. This time I was thinking positive about the snow (usually I'm very skeptical and get ragged for being the realist; I am a Taurean after all), and my reward is... well THERE IS NO REWARD!

Okay, so I'm still a bit livid but believe it or not I'm not as angry as I was this morning.

Anyway, lesson learned. Positive thinking might be fine for Pollyanna, but not for me. I'll stick to reality, thanks. At least when you stick to realism, the disappointments don't become such a shock.

Here are pics my brother took:

I LOVE that last picture! It looks so pretty covering the streets and rooftops.

By the way, I found out last night that the wind was so fierce during that blizzard Dad got, that it blew through the small cracks in his windows. The inside of his truck was soaked.

Wintry Night!

- Posts from my niece and nephew's Facebook pages tonight:

“70% chance of snow. Pray for no school!” - Luke

(Hooray! They raised their chance of snow! So far they're delaying school by 2 hours, but I hope the school district will be smart and just cancel. The kiddos and my sister deserve a day off from school).

“There's snow on our front walk way. That's pretty exciting! I feel like someone just gave me a full bag of Halloween candy!” - Autumn

(Haha! My niece would use candy as a comparison).

- My Aunt Jennifer called, saying it was starting to snow there. She hung up, then called back under 5 minutes later. She was flabbergasted because the snow was coming down so hard that it was already accumulating!

- Over here, we've started having tiny doses of snow flurries mixed with sleet. When Maddie went outside for the millionth time, she was so happy. She's gonna freak if it starts snowing! She love love LOVES the cold!

I'll add updates in this post. Hopefully they'll be some snow videos! (I hope they show up on the digital camera. My regular Sony camera's battery won't charge at all).

- I'm so sad that Mom's Irises in the front garden have all died. They were blooming so beautifully, too!

- Looks like GB is still working out in the gym. Photobucket

Hawaii Pics

I wish I could travel around the world as he does.

- What was up with Idol tonight? It was like the LA auditions were so bad that the entire show was nothing but fillers. I think watching paint dry would have been more entertaining.

Snow pics my aunt took. They received 17 inches:
(That snowdrift in the first pic at her house is natural. No shoveling or anything. It looks like a wave. Lol!)

A Bear's Snowy Adventure...

Here are some snow pics of Fulton, Illinois; courtesy of the Paterfamilias. Photobucket

I cropped some of the bear pictures, so I would definitely click on the original pics. They're really, really cute. He even captioned a few. Lol!

Now the forecast for Friday here in Spring, Tx is:

Photobucket
Snow Showers
40 High
26 Low
Chance of Snow 40%

Mom seems to think it will snow, and that now it WILL stick. (Yes, her prediction has turned).

Me? Not so sure. I'll believe it when I'm playing in it. Lol!

UPDATE:
Now it says 70% chance of snow Thursday night and 40% chance of snow showers Friday!

Cold Night = Happy Happy Joy Joy

Wow! It's almost 11 pm and it's 25 degrees. The wind chill is in the SINGLE DIGITS!!!! It's actually below freezing! It's windy, too. It's so windy we had to take down the awning over the back porch because it was coming unscrewed from the brick of the house. (That wind is coooooold, too!) Maddie was a little disappointed when we didn't let her go outside with us. She's pretty crazy about this cold.

I love it too, but I must confess I worry A LOT about the little birds and other people's pets. (I fear that there are some stupid pet owners out there that don't bring their pets indoors with such cold weather; weather we're clearly not used to around here). I'm trying not to think too much on it though. We did leave a lot of seed out for the birdies, so I guess that's all we can do for them.

I especially think about little "Fievel." (The baby bluebird Mom and I rescued a couple Easter's ago). I wonder if he ever grew into adulthood?

Mom is worrying herself silly over the pipes bursting tonight. I keep telling her we've taken all the precautions and not to borrow trouble, but she's still worried. (I really don't blame her with the pipe disaster we had last year, on top of everything else... and now Dad not even being here).

I was going to get up early tomorrow to try to get a school assignment, but if it rains at all tonight that would be a disaster waiting to happen.

I hope my father sends us some pics or video of the snow (Fulton, IL). It's 12 degrees there right now, with high gusts. They're expecting an inch of snow every hour until Noon tomorrow. So far they've received 8.9 inches.

I just wish he didn't have to go out in this. Where he works (Clinton, IA) they say they will NEVER take off for bad weather. (I guess to them work is far more important than human life). And Dad doesn't just drive to work and stay indoors all day. He's stuck OUTSIDE, and this man has hardly any meat on him. I know he's freezing his little nonexistent @ss up there.

I am so in love with this video:

I like this video, too:

When he said it was 75 degrees only yesterday, I just had to laugh. (I would have known exactly what state he lived in if all he said was that. Lol!)

This is totally unrelated to the weather, but I DEFINITELY had a visitor last night. I don't know if it was our resident ghost cat ("John Smith") or someone else, but I felt a definite depression on my bed behind my back. Either it was the cat, or someone's hand. Whatever, or whoever it was, it happened. It didn't really frighten me though.
