Fill in the Blank Friday

Quick explanation of today's Mood avatar:
Let's just say that over the past couple of days I've discovered that my cat doesn't just like to eat the dog food.... (which is something I already knew, as we fight about it every single day)... but she also enjoys Doritos.
And marshmallows.

Okay, so technically it's Thursday but what can I say? I'm feeling reckless this evening.
1. The holiday season is...
All about the holiday specials.
2. Snow makes me...
Jealous, because in this part of Texas ice only exists in the freezer.
I can't help but feel a little left out when it's snowing everywhere but here. I see pictures and video of snow on other people's blogs, television commercials, holiday movies and cartoons.
I wouldn't want to live where it snowed constantly, but it'd be nice to experience a snowfall at least once or twice every year.
3. The best comfort food to eat when it's cold out is...
Shrimp Gumbo!
Or a cup of hot cappuccino with a few Milano cookies.
4. Winter is the best time for...
Curling up on the couch, with a kitty in your lap, while watching holiday specials like "Mickey's Christmas Carol."
5. I can hardly wait for...
Mom to start playing her new Harry Potter Lego game that she got for Christmas. She really loves those games, and even though I don't play I enjoy the graphics.
6. When it comes to holiday gifts I prefer to...
Have the purchasing of them done before December.

(Usually, I fail miserably at this).
7. If I were to rate my excitement about the holiday season on a scale from 1-10, I would say I am at about a...
Hmm, this year I'm probably at about a 4?

I'm trying to remedy that.

Of Ornaments & Holiday Movies

We have hundreds of Christmas tree ornaments, so I took pictures of some of them the other day. And when I say hundreds, I really mean HUNDREDS.

I guess it’s a good thing we don’t buy the ornaments like we used to. While there are still some nice ornaments out there that we love, they don’t sell as many as they used to. There’s still Hallmark, but usually our favorites were the cheaper one’s from places like Walmart and K-Mart. The “Enesco” and “Trim a Tree” brands come to mind. I wish they still made those.
Below, I’ll post pictures of some of our ornaments. Be sure to click on the thumbnails if you’re interested in looking at a particular photo.

I’ll post more photos in future blog posts. Although, what I should have done was wait to take pictures with my brother’s fancy camera. He’s thinking of selling it, and if he does we’re going to buy it from him.
I’m getting goose bumps just thinking about it! I’ve never had much luck with our cameras, and his is a really nice one. Top of the line.

- I still haven’t taken video of the lights this year, so for now I’ll just copy/paste a link to a blog post from last year. This year the lights still flash to music, but we added a couple things and - sadly - don’t have the light-up trees anymore. They decided to keel over this year… and here we only bought them LAST year. ‘Tis the Season, right? It just wouldn’t be Christmas without at least one disaster with the lights.

- I bought my SIL’s gift yesterday, and the kids just want money, so now I only have the guys left to Christmas shop for; my brother and father.

Today's topic is: Favorite Holiday Movies/TV specials
Ooh, fun! I could get a little wacky with this one, so I’m going to have to try very hard to narrow it down.

(That last one is the Christmas episodes of “Northern Exposure”)

Of all the above, my top 4 picks would have to be “Mickey’s Christmas Carol,” “Twas the Night Before Christmas,” "A Muppet Family Christmas," and “It’s Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown.”
