Christmas Chimes and Pet Concerns

Current Mood: Photobucket

It's official. You can include me when it comes to jumping on the Christmas in July bandwagon. Well, with 'window shopping' anyway. It isn't like I'm about to get out the Christmas decorations and start stringing lights on the house.

Although I might sing a Christmas Carol or two.

- This isn't Christmas related of course, but I think this is so funny. It's a picture our neighbor took the other day of one of her dogs. Her name is Bella.

- This is how I got Abigail to eat her dog food tonight.

Photobucket

I don't know why, but she sees her toys/babies eating her food as competition. (Also Wendy Kitty. She RUSHES to that food bowl whenever Wendy enters the room). I think this is the third time this little trick has worked. Photobucket

- In worrisome news, we're a little concerned for our sweet Maddie Kate. She's hurt her leg and we found a little cyst on her. She's still climbing the stairs, so the leg can't be too bad. I can tell it bothers her though because she won't allow the other girls to get too close to her when they play by running relays, and she doesn't smile all the time like she usually does. Hopefully, the cyst is nothing serious. She's at the right age for that kind of stuff to be showing up, and it's in her favor that she was spayed when we adopted her. I think she was around 7 months old back then.

I've been worried about Wendy Kitty, too. Her ear was bleeding the other day. I don't think she has mites, as she hasn't been shaking her head at all and she's an indoor cat. I hope she just scratched it. She isn't acting any different at all, so I hope that's all it was.

- Sometimes it still feels a little strange not hearing and seeing Tiger Lily around the house. Since Tiger Lily passed, Wendy has definitely been confused because she's always looking for her in Mom's room.

Not that there's any love lost between the mother-daughter pair. During Tiger Lily's last days, she and Wendy had to be completely separated.

- I had the strangest dream this morning. My nocturnal ramblings have been incredibly mundane for the longest time, so I was pretty proud of this one.

I typed it up on my Dreams blog, so click HERE to read it if interested.

Or if you have nothing better to do during a bout of insomnia and random blog reading. I've had far more interesting dreams in the past, but this was still a lot more interesting than the dreams I've had lately.

- Updated my latest blog HERE the other day. So far I've only copy/pasted a few articles from my old site. I think that eventually I'll post more on that blog than this one.

And now back to Christmas....

These are my favorite holiday specials. Definitely my Top 2. It just wouldn't be Christmas without them.

-

Confession:
I still have TTNBC on the dvr. I might have to watch it tonight.

And just FYI, when Mickey's Christmas Carol airs on television they edit the everlasting you-know-what out of it. It's quite unfortunate really, so I'm grateful I have my own unedited copy from when it aired in the 90's. It's not fantastic quality, but it's better than the edited version.

Photobucket

Isn't this fun? My sister's hubby just bought this for her. The lights projector includes a bunch of holidays, too. Not just Christmas. I wonder what the Halloween version looks like.

My mother wants one of these in the worst way. She's so great when it comes to decorating for the holidays, and this is right up her alley.

UPDATE: Worried a lot more about Maddie. My sister decided to come in from Austin today and my parents and brother are going on vacation to the beach this weekend. I'm worried about Maddie getting worse while they're away. I think she's sprained her leg really bad. My guess is it happened when she jumped off the bed the other day... which is something she never does and she knows we don't allow.

To be frank, I don't know what to think. She goes from acting perfectly normal to whining a little or plopping down on the floor suddenly. She still begs for food, barks when the other girls do, and goes up and down the stairs.

Such a Sad Dog

Ahhhh, what a sad little girl Abby has been this weekend. Before 5 am Saturday morning, her Mommy and Daddy drove to LaGrange to mow the 2 acres before the temperatures got too hot. (Unfortunately, they drove the 2 1/2 hours there and back for absolutely nothing because the darn riding lawn mower was broken. I don't know what we're going to do now. Rent a trailer to drive it to a repair shop I guess. They've gotten so much rain up there that our grass is now 2 feet tall. Mom says the grasshoppers there are HUGE right now).

So while Mom and Dad were close to 3 hours away, I'm afraid I was neglecting my little Princess Abigail. Since we got this new computer, I decided to print out all my stories. The # of pages was something like 1,158 so it took all weekend. I'm hearing that loud printer in my sleep!

Photobucket

Photobucket

I'm just relieved it's over because it was so time consuming. (I printed on both sides of the paper and I have to individually feed the paper through on the back side since our printer has a taste for devouring several pages at once). All left now is to type up and print notes for future stories.

Stories which will likely only exist inside my brain and never on paper. I don't know. Time will tell if I'm insane enough to go down that road again. I become pretty obsessive about it once I get started.

Since I'm done printing everything, Abby and I played a little earlier. I even let her roll around in my hair. (One of her favorite games). She was so happy that I didn't even have to beg her to eat her dog food. All I did was this....

Photobucket

... and that was enough to convince her that she was hungry too. Photobucket

And okay.... anyone know how in the heck to get rid of Blogger's new tendency to underlining/creating links in my posts? I've really grown tired of it, and so far nothing I've tried has helped. I keep seeing suggestions about changing the html, but this new version of Blogger won't allow that anymore.

Help!

And now there's AN AD on the top of my page?! That's not okay.

Miscellany Friday

1. Our main computer is now resting in peace, so we had to buy a new one. This means I had to download GIMP again, and I have to say this newer version is taking some getting used to.

2. Since we now have a new computer, I've vowed not to save lots of photos and video on it. I'll never have to 'Spring Clean' my computer so-to-speak since it'll always be free of clutter.

Photobucket

3. My brother visited us a couple weekends back, for the first time since his divorce. We were worried about how Abby would react at seeing her Daddy again.

To our relief, Abby did really well with his visit. She loved seeing him, but at the end of the day she still would go up to Mom to be cuddled. Also, when Lance was leaving the next day Abby thought for an instant that she was to go with him. It was clear to everyone that she did NOT want to leave with him to get in the car. Lol! We took that as another good sign.

4. Since Netflix is intent on torturing me by not adding Season 2 of Downton Abbey to their Instant Watch Playlist, I've become obsessed with the 1970's tv series Upstairs Downstairs. Ever seen it?

Photobucket
I've watched a few episodes from Season 1, all of Season 2 and now I'm watching Season 3.

5. I'm afraid I've spoiled Abby. She can't ever entertain herself. I feel like I'm the mother of a toddler.

6. I only had close to $7 left on my B&N gift card, so I bought this cute Jane Austen address book complete with quotes.

11 things about me:

Photobucket

1. I feel very out of place in this century, and quite possibly even the planet. Photobucket

2. When a kid, I had a speech impediment so I had to take Speech therapy all through elementary. In my family, only my older sister could really understand me.

3. I'm afraid of hummingbird moths. To me they are really freaky things. They give me the heebie-jeevies.

4. The older I'm getting, the more superstitious I'm becoming.

5. I had a small hand at closing down a pet store that was neglecting their animals.

6. When I was young, I insisted that my name was "Tina." Photobucket
(Tina was my sister's best friend, and I guess saying her name was easier than my own).

7. Last week my mother discovered that we're related to Princess Diana by blood.
(Albeit thin blood). Her 9th great-grandfather is ours too. I'm pretty sure it's the ancestor pictured below, Sir Arthur Denny. I'll have to ask my mother to make certain. She and my uncle are the genealogists in the family.

Photobucket

8. When I was 7 years old I saw a ghost spirit. He was fixing the covers at the end of the bed, and when he looked up and saw that I could see him his eyes glowed a bright white light. Scared me to death! Photobucket (Confused me, too, as he looked so strange to me. Years later was when I discovered that his 'girly' hair - pageboy - and fancy clothes were of the Renaissance era). I have a blog all about him.

9. My mother, niece and nephew are the loves of my life!

10. My dream home would be something like this:

11. I've written a few books but have only tried getting one of them published. I'm obsessive about editing. I have a love/hate relationship with the written word.

My Answers:

Photobucket

Since it's too hot for Disney World, perhaps Tennessee? I've always wished to see the Smoky Mountains.

Oh, wow. This is weird. I just typed about Tennessee, and downstairs Mom just started talking about Tennessee.

Photobucket

My nightly cup of cappuccino!

Photobucket

I re-watched "Thor" on Netflix a few weeks ago.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Most definitely Scotland or Ireland.

Photobucket

The retired series, Northern Exposure! No tv series will ever top NX. Truly, I mean this from the heart. It was such an entertaining show with great characters and storylines.

And I still blubber like a baby when watching that last scene!

Photobucket

I'm not really into them.

Photobucket

I had to take Spanish for 2 years in HS, and then a semester in college. Years later I wanted to learn some Italian-o, so I purposely did my best to forget all that Spanish since I was confusing the two.

The result? I now know no foreign languages.

Photobucket

I haven't read a book that was interesting per say, but I've seen a lot of documentaries which are.

Photobucket

Funny pet videos, Disney World and music.

Photobucket

I'm in the minority here, because I'm really not into the oldies. My favorite 'oldies' are the 80's.

Photobucket

Alas, no. It does look beautiful though.

My Questions for you:

 photo july20122_zps21e036c6.jpg
(Some of these I asked when tagged several months back. What can I say? I'm into recycling pretty much everything).

1. If you could have lunch with anyone, deceased or living, who would it be?

2. If your life were made into a movie, what would be the title?

3. Supposing a fairy godmother just Poof-ed herself into your living room one day, what ONE wish would you ask for yourself?

4. If your pet could talk, it would say _____________ ?

5. Have you ever crossed paths with a person you think has the makings of a great character for a book or movie? Describe them.

6. Do you keep a journal of any kind?

7. Is it important to you to keep a record of your family's history? (Not just the usual information - DOB, etc - but your relatives personalities... interesting experiences they've had... and so forth).

8. If you had one super power, what would it be?

9. Have you ever been to Disney World or Disneyland?
(Come on, I HAD to ask that Photobucket).

10. What talent do you wish you possessed?

11. What is your dream job?
