Bookworms and Quilters

Photobucket

Mom and I met up with Grandma today, and I got to see some of the quilt she's making me. It's really pretty!

At Market Street I finally used my Border's gift card on those books that I wanted.

I still need 2 other books by this author, plus a short story:

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

I am so glad I had a gift card for these, otherwise I'd never have bought them. $7 for a paperback is a little ridiculous. I guess I'm getting old b/c I remember when PB's were $3 and $4. (Nowadays, the USED one's cost that).

And don't get me started on the hardcovers! I still haven't read KMM's latest book b/c I'm waiting for the paperback. The HC at Borders today was $26, and that's before tax!

Oh! The checker at Border's today was this sweet old man. (He had a strange accent, so understanding him was a little hard at times). He held up my gift card, and said - "You know what this means, right? It means that someone loves you very much." Lol! Of course, he then mentioned how because I spent over a certain amount, then I can buy this little stuffed animal bunny rabbit for just $7.

Umm.... After buying 4 books that cost over $30 - even with a gift card plus a few dollars over - I'd better get that darn rabbit FOR FREE!

Photobucket

But he was really sweet.
Before even handing me my Bag-'O-Scottish-Alpha Males,Photobucket
he told me not only to have a good day today, but to have a good day today "and every single day after that." Lol!

Below is a vid I found of Market Street in the Woodlands. I wish I had been there that day! I mean, BAGPIPES?!

By the way, the weather today was GORGEOUS!!!!! Chilly in the morning, then it felt like spring. It was such a beautiful, sunny day.

Today is Lance and Laura's last day at Disney World.
Sad, huh? Photobucket

They were at MK earlier... called us from Aloha Isle... and I know they'll be there tonight.

Photobucket

And Dad comes home tomorrow, too. He'll be back around Noon, and Lance & Laura around 3:30 or 4:00 I guess. The dogs are gonna be overjoyed tomorrow.

What Snow?

Photobucket

Well, snow finally arrived on my doorstep.... or should I say "snow" mixed with rain and sleet off and on for the equivalent of about an hour, and at nighttime.

Not impressed.

Nope, not gonna lie. I'm just not happy about it.

College Station, Austin - (have family in both areas) - and Dallas gets snow like you wouldn't believe and we get wimpy little snow flurries and rain.

Sigh...

The funny thing is that the last time it snowed here in December, when once again we received zippo accumulation, I think Dad was out of town that day as well. I find it kind of odd that if it snows here at all, Dad is always in another state.

But I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY feel sorry for Lance and Laura. When Lance saw snow recently, it wasn't that much; more than we're used to, but it was still just a dusting. And poor Laura.... she saw no snow at all.

It's just that I saw on tv last night just how much snow they received in Austin all day long. Even at night, it was still covering the ground. True, Lance and Laura are at Disney World but THAT MUCH SNOW is soooo very RARE. I really do feel sorry for them. I feel sorrier for them than I do myself.

Photobucket

By the way, I LOVE the video below. I think it's hilarious that the little girl goes back inside long before the Mom does. Lol! I would definitely do the same as the Mom.

THIS video is nice, too. Very scenic and gives you a real feel for the more secluded Austin areas.

Pics my sister sent:

It looks like Lukie was hit with a snowball! Lol!

- Here is Abby wondering what the snow flurries are.

- And this is a short video of her in Mom's room before the flurries came.

- Then of course there's this pic.

Is it deep space or snow in the night?

Hmm....

Lance and Laura didn't go to EPCOT last night. All the parks closed early.

I can't believe they only have two full days left at the parks. It's gone by so fast, and they're staying for an entire week! I expected it to move so much slower.
Photobucket
Just like on his last trip, my brother is gonna come home so angry. He becomes so overworked in his daily life that the vacation - which he needs badly - whizzes past far too soon.

Photobucket

Lance and Laura went to Animal Kingdom this morning.

And then they headed back to....

Well Hollywood Studios of course! Lol!

Photobucket

Last year it was "Soarin" over at EPCOT that Lance was obsessed with. This year it's Toy Story Mania at HS.

He also went to The Magic Kingdom today. Tonight, they had to get back to the hotel early though because it is POURING.

The Goofster & Lord Vader

Photobucket
Lance and Laura went to Downtown Disney last night.
This morning they went straight to the Toy Story ride at HS. Photobucket (Unless you want to wait in line for hours, you HAVE to head straight to the ride at park opening). Lance looooved that ride!

After that, I think they went back to the hotel - Animal Kingdom Lodge - followed by EPCOT again.

Photobucket

(They had lunch reservations, at Le Cellier I believe).

He sent us a pic of a Disney pin that he bought. The pic was blurry, so I found another pic of it online.

Goofy Pin

Cute, huh? I mean, who doesn't like Goofy?!

And who doesn't like VADER, especially with moves like that?!

(His song is before the 4-minute mark)

"Hooray!" Ramblings

Photobucket

- Still wish I were at Disney! I just got off the phone with Lance. They're at Animal Kingdom now, between Africa and Asia, heading towards "Flights of Wonder."

He said that yesterday they went to Epcot, then back to MK at night to see the fireworks and film some of Spectromagic.

I think he's still pretty tired. He's gonna need a vacation from his vacation!

Love this vid. As I said, I wanna go!!!!

First Disney Trip

- The monster machines are gone today, and the guy told us it all should have been taken away a day earlier. He says it had to have been a mishap with their gauges yesterday.

But thank goodness Wendy Kitty is free again! (We stapled plastic against the walls to keep her away). I felt so sorry for her. Tiger Lily was allowed to roam the house because she doesn't have a curious nature and stood away from the kitchen. Even if she tried crawling inside the holes in the walls, she wouldn't get far.
Wendy on the other hand..... Photobucket

I saw her on the stair landing earlier, having a celebratory bath. :p

Photobucket

- I am SO HAPPY the noise is gone, and the kitchen isn't cluttered with those machines. We can't use the oven, but we can use the stove again! Well, for a little while at least and only the burners.

- And here's a hilarious coincidence....

Okay, like a day before we knew of the plumbing disaster in our kitchen, I had that dream of the bumblebee drowning in water. (See an entry below). But then last night I discovered something pretty silly.

At work I started a word search weeks ago, went back to it last night, then noticed the odd coincidence of these two titles and the plumbing disaster at our house right now.
Click HERE to see what I'm talking about. Photobucket

I mean, what are the odds? Out of all those word searches to choose from, it was that page I chose back then and came back to now.

- I was told yesterday that Laura got me a Disney trading pin that I am going to LOVE!!! Sweet, huh?

Rather Be At Disney

Photobucket

Mom spoke to Lance again last night and this morning. He was so EXHAUSTED last night that he didn't even want to keep their dinner reservation.

This morning he's up-and-at-'em though. Since they were at MK yesterday, I imagine they're at AK this morning. It's close to their hotel (AK Lodge) anyway, and seems to be their favorite park.

Animal Kingdom, that is. Photobucket (Personally, I don't really like it. I visited it for the first time last year).

They might even go to EPCOT. Photobucket (Another favorite of theirs, which is a park I do NOT like very much for several reasons).

Disney Souvenirs

Lance says he's going to break down and buy some expensive picture for his office. It's of the Haunted Mansion.

Laura got a cute vintage shirt yesterday. (Of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, which is retired).

Plumbing Update

- Were told by the original guy that the breakfast area was okay, yet.... he put two fans there.

- The guys that came yesterday said humidity has to get down to 12%.

- Today, the guys that came said the breakfast area was the worst. (Original guy said it was okay)

- Today, we were told it has to get down to 10%
(Yesterday we all heard them quote 12%)

EITHER SOMEONE IS LYING OR THIS COMPANY IS INCOMPETENT!

And do they realize this is the South? The humidity is in the 80's today, and we have the windows open. Are they even considering these factors?

So the fans are still on, after we were told yesterday it's highly likely they'll be turned off today.

Thank God only a few of the fans are on. It's a lot quieter, which is music to my ears.

Which reminds me... all this noise really affects a person. When going to bed last night, I shut my door and turned on my floor fan. It drove me crazy b/c the fan sounded so quiet. Lol! (Mom experienced the same thing, she said). Then this morning, when the fans were temporarily turned off while the guys were gauging the temps in the there with their equipment, my ears were ringing like crazy.

But even the ringing is better than "All the noise, noise, noise NOISE!"
