- I listened to Michio Kaku on Coast to Coast AM last night. I was too tired to listen to the entire program, but I heard about an hour of it. I can't wait for someone to post it on YouTube!
I don't even pretend to understand physics, but I find it fascinating and have fun TRYING to wrap my mind around it. Last night he mentioned some pretty amazing stuff.
- Still no job for Dad. Absolutely NADA. Hopefully, month #6 will bring some well-deserved luck to him.
- Surprise, surprise. The neighbor opened up yet another portal with the loud music blasting from his new car.
If my life were a romance novel, hurling through that portal would be a braw Highlander with a thick, buttery rich Scots accent and large masculine hands.

This is just so amazing and beautiful to me. While at our land (Owl Creek) yesterday, one of our neighbor's came over to speak to Mom. She told her that two baby fawns were born on our land, beneath one of the oak trees! We knew there have been deer on our land before, since we've seen hoofprints behind the barn, but never would we have imagined deer being BORN there.
The lady said that after they were born they couldn't slip through the fence, so she had to get the wire cutters out and expand the little hole the Mama had come through originally.
We already have a tree there that Mom calls "The Bluebird Tree." (It's name is self-explanatory, but to be honest all types of birds take residence there. And A LOT. Really, I've never seen so many birds in one spot before). So now we think we should name our house, or at least that oak tree, after the deer.
Maybe we should name the tree they were born beneath "The Dear Tree." Lol!
I guess that's sort of a lame play on words, but it's actually growing on me.
- First of all, I had the worst migraine yesterday. My vow to stay away from caffeine was lost by the afternoon. Nothing got rid of this headache: A cup of cappuccino, ibuprofren, Coca-Cola, a 2nd cappuccino, putting in my contacts. Nothing helped, so it wasn't a great day. I survived only b/c of the Doctor Who marathon that was running for this latest season. (Not a fan of it, by the way).
- Last night we had the creepiest, strangest, eeriest storm ever. My parents were sitting out in the front like they always do, but decided to come in. Mom said it was just too hot and the mosquitoes were biting really bad.
So they go in, and just a few minutes later I'm on my way downstairs when I look out the windows in the gallery area. The sky was the dirtiest brown color with lots of low lying clouds. I mean really DIRTY looking brown and bright orange. It was still kind of sunny in the back, so when I told Mom to look out the window she thought I was nuts b/c she had just come inside and it was sunny as could be.
In short, it was EERIE. Seriously, it didn't feel like an act of Mother Nature. It was VERY windy and it took a while for the rain to get here. Everybody was outside in their front or backyards, taking pictures and video. In their cars, people were speeding home. (People always speed around here, but last night it was worse. You could sense their urgency to get home quick as they could). The whole atmosphere was just CREEPY. It felt like at any moment spaceships were gonna descend on us. Lol! Sounds silly, but that seriously is how it felt. Everyone said it. It was all just very surreal and felt like something really horrible was just waiting to pounce.
I didn't get to film the brown and orange sky, or the worst of the wind because I was busy getting the cats in the laundry room and calming down the dogs. I was hoping something of that would show up on YouTube, but it hasn't. I didn't even think of filming it then b/c I was so sure a tornado was on it's way. I just wanted the animals safe, and this storm was coming in QUICK. The wind was like a hurricane when the storm first rolled in, and later on Mom said the lightening was high up and flashing across a wide area. Like really big bucket flashes. (I was inside then, so I didn't see it. I knew what she meant though b/c that's how the lightening was for hours when they were out of town that night for Dad's job interview. It stormed like that until after midnight).
Usually I LOVE a good thunderstorm down here, but yesterday I was creeped out. I didn't enjoy it at all. Only when it started raining did it start feeling like a normal storm. The air actually got pretty cool, which was awesome beyond belief. I loved that!
One more thing that was strange was that there were no weather bulletins about this thing anywhere. Not a one.
The vids below, I swear were taken in my neighborhood. It looks like it, and he mentioned the power going out... which happens all the time around here, and not just during storms like this.
Mom and I met up with Grandma today, and I got to see some of the quilt she's making me. It's really pretty!
At Market Street I finally used my Border's gift card on those books that I wanted.
I still need 2 other books by this author, plus a short story:
I am so glad I had a gift card for these, otherwise I'd never have bought them. $7 for a paperback is a little ridiculous. I guess I'm getting old b/c I remember when PB's were $3 and $4. (Nowadays, the USED one's cost that).
And don't get me started on the hardcovers! I still haven't read KMM's latest book b/c I'm waiting for the paperback. The HC at Borders today was $26, and that's before tax!
Oh! The checker at Border's today was this sweet old man. (He had a strange accent, so understanding him was a little hard at times). He held up my gift card, and said - "You know what this means, right? It means that someone loves you very much." Lol! Of course, he then mentioned how because I spent over a certain amount, then I can buy this little stuffed animal bunny rabbit for just $7.
Umm.... After buying 4 books that cost over $30 - even with a gift card plus a few dollars over - I'd better get that darn rabbit FOR FREE!
But he was really sweet.
Before even handing me my Bag-'O-Scottish-Alpha Males,
he told me not only to have a good day today, but to have a good day today "and every single day after that." Lol!

By the way, the weather today was GORGEOUS!!!!! Chilly in the morning, then it felt like spring. It was such a beautiful, sunny day.
Today is Lance and Laura's last day at Disney World.
Sad, huh?
They were at MK earlier... called us from Aloha Isle... and I know they'll be there tonight.
And Dad comes home tomorrow, too. He'll be back around Noon, and Lance & Laura around 3:30 or 4:00 I guess. The dogs are gonna be overjoyed tomorrow.
Well, snow finally arrived on my doorstep.... or should I say "snow" mixed with rain and sleet off and on for the equivalent of about an hour, and at nighttime.
Not impressed.
Nope, not gonna lie. I'm just not happy about it.
College Station, Austin - (have family in both areas) - and Dallas gets snow like you wouldn't believe and we get wimpy little snow flurries and rain.
Sigh...
The funny thing is that the last time it snowed here in December, when once again we received zippo accumulation, I think Dad was out of town that day as well. I find it kind of odd that if it snows here at all, Dad is always in another state.
But I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY feel sorry for Lance and Laura. When Lance saw snow recently, it wasn't that much; more than we're used to, but it was still just a dusting. And poor Laura.... she saw no snow at all.
It's just that I saw on tv last night just how much snow they received in Austin all day long. Even at night, it was still covering the ground. True, Lance and Laura are at Disney World but THAT MUCH SNOW is soooo very RARE. I really do feel sorry for them. I feel sorrier for them than I do myself.
By the way, I LOVE the video below. I think it's hilarious that the little girl goes back inside long before the Mom does. Lol! I would definitely do the same as the Mom.
Lance and Laura went to Downtown Disney last night.
This morning they went straight to the Toy Story ride at HS. (Unless you want to wait in line for hours, you HAVE to head straight to the ride at park opening). Lance looooved that ride!
After that, I think they went back to the hotel - Animal Kingdom Lodge - followed by EPCOT again.
(They had lunch reservations, at Le Cellier I believe).
