Of Bunnies, Regal Yorkies and Cinderella's Mice

I made a new necklace last night! I fell instantly in love with this mouse/midnight charm. It's the "Fairy Tale" brand which can be found at Hobby Lobby. I think I'm going to re-create one to sell to my sister's Teacher friend's come Christmastime.

I wanted to add chain to this one, but the chain I have didn't quite match the gold.

My mother and I also made some tote bags yesterday. Mine is the rabbit and hers is the Yorkie pup. I LOVE the bling we put on Mom's bag. I put a small crystal on my bag, too, but it doesn't show up well in these photos. I really should have taken better photos, but who am I kidding? The lighting is always a problem so these pics are what they are. I'll take better pictures whenever we get a new camera. (In the very least, I need to find some pretty lace to set my necklaces on when taking photos of them).

Oops. I forgot to mention that the graphics we got from an Etsy store.... http://www.etsy.com/shop/Graphique .... and they were only $1 a piece! We got 11 of them, but are going to add at least 2 more soon. I think this means we're going to be making a lot of canvas bags, for ourselves and even as Christmas presents.

As everyone knows, today is a sad day for a lot of families. Every year people ask the question: "Where were you when 911 happened?"

When 911 happened, I was subbing for a 7th grade Texas History class. It was the same junior high I attended, and this was even my old classroom.

A student came in at the start of second period and shouted that a terrorist flew a plane into one of the towers. That early on, it was a break in an otherwise monotonous school day, so all the kids were a little... excited, for lack of a better term. It hadn't hit home to anyone yet just how serious this was. Even I had no clue. I really thought this boy was over-exaggerating, and that it was only a small plane that hit the tower by some freak accident.

Soon after, kids kept getting called to the office to be picked up early by their parents. The office was just across the hall from me, and at lunchtime I went to the teacher's lounge to get a coke. Along the way I noticed the tv's switched on in all the classrooms, and inside the office it was PANDEMONIUM, so that's when I went back to the classroom. I turned on the tv, and that's when I saw how devastating it really was.

Some teachers allowed their students to watch the news while all this was happening. I just couldn't though. Whenever I had a class and the kids kept asking to watch the news, I turned off the television. I knew there would be some students not comfortable seeing it. For all I knew, some of them had family or friends in NYC. (If someone with family there outright asked to watch the news, I would have allowed it. Otherwise, that tv stayed off so there would be at least a small sense of normalcy for that class period).

For the rest of the day, students were constantly being sent home. I'm not exaggerating when I say that in our classroom alone, about every five minutes... usually less than even that... a child was picked up by their parent. A lot of people were afraid of the schools being targeted next.

I think every American remembers where they were on 9/11, and what they were doing. And whether you're a conspiracy theorist or not... I bring this up because there have been A LOT of those shows on lately... let's not get so caught up in those debates that we forget the victims themselves. My thoughts are with those who lost loved one's that day.

Last year I read THIS blog post from Tales From an OC Cottage. It's always stuck with me, and the list of names at the end of the post really sticks with you. It's all just so tragic.

One of my favorite things in the world is this beautiful stained glass my mother made for me a few years back. Isn't it pretty? She's made a lot of stained glass before, but when making this one she said she "felt inspired."

Added a cute little goodie... the cat/moon... to our Halloween basket. Found it at Thads in Old Town Spring.

- It's okay.... to be feeling utter dread about work, and that I had to take my favorite school off my list because of the traffic and long distance from my house.

- It's okay.... that I need an attitude adjustment when it comes to work. The first step towards a positive lifestyle is realizing that you have a problem and it's time to change.

- It's okay.... to know the above statement is total BS.

- It's okay... that I'm still afraid of commenting on other people's blogs for fear of losing all my blogs again.

- It's okay.... that I got another romance novel, because this one was 80% off. I got it for something like like 56 cents!

The story doesn't seem fascinating to me, but I have a lot of her other books so I figured what the heck?

- It's okay... to be really nervous about working in new schools all because I'm a control freak and loathe change all the way down to the marrow of my bones.

- It's okay... that my Photobucket account with all our old family and home photos are denying me access.

- It's okay... that in the above statement I'm lying to myself again.

- It's okay... that I'd rather stick a fork in my eye AND drop a case of Coca Cola on my foot AND put lemon juice on a paper cut than to add middle school and elementary to my accepted job assignments. Focus on the new junior high first, and leap head-first into the Pit 'O Doom a little later.

- It's okay... that I'm thinking of not accepting a job assignment until Monday because today I realized that my once-beautiful purse looks like white trash and needs to be replaced. Also, I could use a few more dress pants and shirts.

- It's okay... to hate spending money on something as awful as clothes (yes, I'm not a fan of clothes shopping) because come Monday I'll WANT to accept an assignment just for the money.

- It's okay.... that in the blogosphere everyone and their cousin is talking about fall approaching when here in Texas it's 99 or 100 degrees every flippin' day. Then add the humidity, and the heat index is well over 100.

- It's okay... that for this entire post I pretty much just complained like Eeyore.

Pondering Moving House, & A Favorite Thing!

 photo 8-31-12_zps5e03ed4a.jpg

Alright, this gal has been pondering leaving Blogger and after what just happened.... my mind was made up for me. Last night, without warning, my blogs were all blocked to me. The only reason I'm able to post now is that I caved in and did Google's Voice Mail verification.

I know this isn't a popular blog - which I prefer, as I like having a smaller circle of blogging pals and I'm weird like that - but if for no reason at all you see my blogs as having been removed...... it wasn't me that removed it.

I'm just glad that I copy/pasted the posts from some of my other blogs the other day. (This one I haven't saved at all). I had a hunch the other day, and thank goodness for that! That's all I saved though - the posts on just a few of my other blogs - as the next time everything goes haywire I'm certainly not creating a new Blogger/Google account. I think I'll give Word Press a go next. I'll have to read up on it.

In the meantime, I might post here sporadically. (If they'll allow it). I'm all for protecting my account from spam and hackers with no life, but I am not a fan of having to use my telephone number to verify who I am. I'm not liking that invasion of privacy at all.

And what's up with my Follower's lists? Why is it showing me following myself? I didn't do that. Why the heck would I? Color me confused.

Since it started doing that, I realized that the photo which shows up on the feed are my Current Mood Avatars which appear all blurry and larger than they really are. I find that annoying and just plain u-g-l-y to look at. I guess I'll stop adding those little avatars, but that feels so strange to me; like walking out the front door without any shoes on.

And FYI -
If I don't return any comments, it's only because I'm being careful. I was returning comments when my blogs disappeared last night. I'm not being a blog snob or ignoring you, I promise. I just feel like I need to be very cautious for the time being.

Replying here on my own blog seems to be working fine, so I think I'll be doing that for a while. I want to reply to everyone, but I'm limiting myself to replying to only 3 or 4 at a time. Just please understand that I DO appreciate the time each and everyone of you take to leave a comment.

One of my favorite things has got to be this sweet little bell with the Yorkie pup. I found it at the antique mall for only $1. I fell instantly in love with it because it reminded me of our little Yorkie that we used to have. Her name was Tinkerbell, and there her likeness was on a little bell.

I thought that a fun little coincidence.

And years before, my mother bought a painting because it reminded us of Tink. Hmm, I'm sensing that even in the afterlife our little pup is still a diva demanding attention. Photobucket

1. You don't have to be the owner of such a boring blog. Your old blog wasn't like this.

2. But it's the muse's fault that I'm so uninspired. If she weren't so busy on the piazza sipping cappuccino's and flirting with hot Italian men that love their Mama's, I might be doing something constructive like writing a best seller.

3. Basically I'm really stuck lately, not knowing what to do next that will make me happy.

4. How I interpret a good day is as follows: I didn't run into any walls or stub my toe... had a good hair day... didn't wake up cursing the alarm... got to cuddle with the furkids.

5. In this way, I'm pretty easy to please and lack imagination and a sense of adventure.

6. I believe it when my results to the Meyer's Brigg's test keeps saying I'm an INFJ. That's 1% of the world's population. I always knew I was different. A 'square peg' person in a 'round hole' planet.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to getting my time on the exercise bike over with, tomorrow my plans include forcing myself to be creative by making another necklace and Sunday, I want to wake up realizing I'm a Texas lottery winner!

Doggy Ice Cream and Audrey Hepburn

Ahh, that's a sweet quote.

Confession:
For me, this quote doesn't just apply to people and pets. It also applies to arriving and leaving Walt Disney World.
And EVERY hardcore Disney fan on the planet knows what I'm talking about! Photobucket
The day you leave The Happiest Place on Earth is a depressing day... which is why bringing souvenirs home are so important, am I right?

Yes, I know. I HAVE to mention Disney at least once or twice a week else I'll spontaneously combust. Photobucket It's who I am and I'm running on the last of my Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah fumes from my last WDW trip back in October... 2009 was it?

Made a new necklace over the weekend. It really could have been made a lot prettier, but I'm in desperate need of just some simple necklaces that will match more of my work clothes. And while this isn't my best necklace, it does look better than the photo. Sorry it's so dark.

Also, these cameo charms are the one's I took off of the larger charms a while back. I have so many of them and it'd be a shame to waste them all. I might add a little draping chain to the center of it sometime. I haven't really decided yet. I do think I'll make another one with the blue beads though (pictured below). I might as well since I have enough of those beads and so many of that one little charm.

Photobucket

More photos are on my Crafty Emporium blog listed in the sidebar. One of these days I'm really going to try to take better photos of my necklaces. I'm really having a lot of trouble taking a good picture with this camera. It's rather frustrating.

A couple months ago I told my niece that one movie she simply has to see is "Love in The Afternoon" with Audrey Hepburn. I almost texted her about it again last night, and lo and behold a few minutes ago my mother tells me that it's coming on tv right now.

See? I told ya I wasn't just weather and Disney World psychic. I'm also MOVIE psychic. Photobucket I wouldn't be at all surprised if my other movie classic recommendation I had for my niece - "Lilies of the Field" with Sidney Poiter - comes on tv soon as well.

I hope my sister got our message and DVR's it. I LOVE this movie. The only scenes I can't watch is whenever that mean old biddy slaps her dog. That's always bothered me.

WARNING:
I beg you to please NOT watch the second clip if you've never seen the movie before.

Abby's birthday is coming up, so Mom made all the girls some homemade vanilla ice cream. We gotta celebrate somehow, ya know!

The girls loooove it. I even have proof, in the photo below, of just how fond Abby is of ice cream. The evidence is marking her mouth and brow, literally.

Photobucket

And here's the only photo I managed to take of Izzy the other day.

Photobucket

It's too hot to stay outside, so I didn't get to take more than 1 photo.. hence Izzy not even looking at the camera. I don't like being outside, because of the mosquitoes (West Nile this year) and humidity.

And two more:

This is how Abby goes back upstairs. She's always been afraid of certain tile areas, so she still makes a run for it whenever she crosses "the red carpet" as I call it.

And of course Maddie with her sweet, ever-present smile.

Halloween will be here before we know it! After the new Grandin Road magazine came in the mail, we looked at their website for all their Halloween goodies. We ordered the Haunted Urn.

I just realized that the way the mouth moves isn't great, but this wasn't expensive and should look great from a distance anyway.

The dueling banjos we would have loved to have if we had a house out in the country. It's so cute! Photobucket
