I've been tagged by one of my favorite bloggers, Storybook Love Affair. Below are my questions from her. (WARNING: Grab an aspirin because there will be a lot of rambling and bad grammar from here on out. I'm not exactly a perfectionist about that sort of thing when it comes to my blog).

1. What is your favourite childhood book?

Growing up, I was drawn to Tasha Tudor's "A Time To Keep." With that, I think it was the illustrations - and looking back, the era it evoked - more than anything.

My grandmother was the one that taught me to read. Every weekend I would spend at her house, and on Sunday mornings we would go to the local 711. She would let me choose 3 pieces of candy, or 1 piece of candy and an Icee. Most times, she would also ask if I wanted another Little Golden Book to add to my growing collection at her house.

LGB only cost something like 25 cents, but I remember thinking back then that between the candy and all these books I was going to make my sweet grandma go broke someday . I always wanted a book, but for the reason stated above I refrained every few trips. Still, I had A LOT of those Little Golden Books and I do remember being especially fond of "The Ginghams" and "The Very Best Home For Me." I loved those!



2. What are you currently reading?

"To Beguile a Beast" by Elizabeth Hoyt. I'm only one chapter in so far. I'm afraid I've been in a reading slump for a while.

3. Who is your favourite author and why?

I have a few, but if I had to narrow it down I would say Karen Marie Moning. Why is she my favorite? If you've ever read her books, you already know the answer. Lol! It's those sexy men she creates. Karen is so gifted at writing that sexual chemistry.

4. Outside of blogging, what do you like to do?

Make jewelry, watch classic movies, obsess over solving all the riddles in the latest season of "Doctor Who," spend time with my pets, listen to a 'Coast to Coast AM' radio show every once in a while, watch a few shows on the SyFy channel... drink lots of cappuccino and iced mochas?

5. Who are some of your favourite artists, bands etc?

I don't really go by bands, but favorite songs. I love a lot of movie soundtracks. (Phantom of the Opera, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, The Fountain, Moulin Rouge, Hook, The Piano, etc).

I also enjoy some songs by Nickelback, Lifehouse, Breaking Benjamin, Coldplay, ES Posthumus (love it when they mix classical with rock), Creed, 3 Doors Down, David Cook, etc.

6. Sweet or savoury?

Savoury I guess.

7. Do you have any favourite blogs and if so what are they?

I have so many favorite blogs. (Look no further than the blog I published only last night). I enjoy all different kinds, but lately I'm pretty addicted to any blogs that talk about their pets or live on acres of land. The country life. I live vicariously through them. Bee Haven Acres is definitely a favorite. I love how all those animals co-exist so beautifully together.

She has chickens getting along with the cats for cripes sake, while here at my house we have to separate our own two cats... and they happen to be a mother and daughter!



8. What is your dream holiday?

Visiting Scotland and Ireland. It would be a dream come true to be able to see and touch and walk inside a real castle! And then there are all the standing stones.

Sigh...

We have Irish and Scots blood on both sides of this family, so I guess that's where my love for anything Celtic comes from.

9. Who is your all-time favourite character?

Jamie Fraser. No woman should leave THIS PLANET without "meeting" him first. Lol! (Diana Gabaldon is another great writer. Jamie feels so real to me).

10. If you could write a book, what would it be about?

I already did write it. Well, I've written a few. I've written Young Adult, Children's and then my favorite genre to write... Romance. I started a Mid-Grade novel a few years ago but never finished. Children's books are the toughest for me. (My mother is great at writing for the kids).

I can't really answer what they're about as I wouldn't know which one to choose. A while back I did post a short description and excerpt from my latest book. Just click on the "writing" tag in the sidebar to read it.

11. Recommend one book that you think everyone should read.

This is a difficult one to answer. I want to say "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon but that's a series. Since Karen (along with Diana) is my favorite author, I guess I would have to pimp at least one of her books.

Nope, I can't do that either. (Kiss/Dark/Tame are all ties for me).

All right, I'm sure I'll change my mind later but I'm gonna focus on books I've re-read before because I enjoyed them so much. There's "The Princess Bride" by William Goldman (such a different type of storytelling) and "The Blue Castle" by Lucy Maud Montgomery (such a feel-good story about taking charge of your own happiness). TBC is young adult, but a lot of people think it should be classified as adult as well.

Okay, I'm already regretting my book choices b/c now I'm remembering other books. Lol! I think I have a problem here. I couldn't even narrow it down to one.

10. Have you ever identified with a character in a book? What was it about them that mirrored yourself?

And speaking of rambling, did you hear that Austin (Tx) received some SNOW today? It didn't cover the ground or anything, and didn't last long, but I was shocked to hear it was snowing at all. We already thought it was a miracle that it was in the mid to high 40's and not the 70's or 80's for a change.
